Potenza Technology has extensive experience in the development and integration of automotive systems, notably in the areas of simulation and control. Previous projects have included:
- vehicle dynamics analysis and simulation
- vehicle semi-active suspension control development

Transmission Systems Control
Potenza Technology has expertise in the development of advanced transmission control for systems such as Automated Manual Transmissions (AMT), and conventional automatic transmissions (AT). We have also undertaken work in new transmission concepts, notably in the field of hybrid electric vehicle applications. We provide much of this work through our associate company Smart MT to markets in the Far East, such as China.
Our services extend from consultancy support through to complete transmission control and electronics hardware specification. We work with some key suppliers to effect systems in short timescales and have access to facilities including test rigs and a proving ground for transmission and vehicle testing work.
Hybrid/Electric Vehicles Development
Potenza Technology was founded from the Rover Group Hybrid Electric vehicle research department. The company has undertaken a number of projects looking at different hybrid vehicle architectures, and specific issues relating to hybrid vehicles such as:
- Battery State of Charge Measurement
- Optimised Off Road Traction Capability using Independent Wheel Control
- Series Hybrid Configurations using Gas Turbine as primary power source
- Parallel hybrid vehicle configurations for off road performance enhancement
- Military applications for electric powertrains
- Functionality enhancements from electric drive technology
Fuel Cell Systems Development
Potenza Technology has application experience in the development of control systems to manage Fuel Cell systems, both for chemical reaction control and electrical power control within the fuel cell system and its application environment.
